This georgette hijab/shayla is a 22" x 80" rectangle(others call it oblong) with all serged edges. Shaylas are very popular at this time and there are many types of shaylas made in various countries, all with different fabrics, designs, tassels and textures. Shaylas are made in USA, Turkey, The Middle East, China and India. Shaylas can be wrapped with other shaylas to create different and contrasting effects.
This shayla is made of 100% polyester georgette and made in the USA.
Polyester is a manufactured fabric, which dries quicly, keeps it shape drapes well and is wash and wear if handled properly.
The down side of polyesters is that they are sensitive to high levels of heat, meaning for example, if you use too hot and iron it will burn.
Some other types of polyester are peachskin, koshibo, chiffon and georgette.
Georgette polyesters are used for dresses, scarves, blouses, etc.
Georgette is machine washable, machine dryable on low heat and should be removed immediately after drying. Polyesters can also be dryed cleaned.
One of our customers said she sends her hijabs made of georgette to the cleaners every now and then.
